Answering a difficult funding question

The question sounds simple: What difference will your program make?

But answering it can be hard.

Activities, outputs, short and longer term impacts can easily become blurred. The link to the funder’s priorities may not be clear. Long-term impacts can extend beyond what one program could realistically achieve.

A strong program can be weakened by an impact pathway that is vague, disconnected or overly ambitious.

Impact that Stands Up gives you a practical process, templates, tools, dedicated time and expert guidance and feedback to develop an answer that is clear, realistic and credible.

A draft Impact Intent Statement: A concise explanation of what your program is expected to achieve and how it can contribute to longer-term impact. You can adapt it for funding applications, program plans and executive reporting.

Receive expert guidance and peer feedback to strengthen the alignment, clarity and credibility of your pathway.

A completed Impact Alignment Map visual, a draft Impact Intent Statement and a practical process, tools and templates you can use again.

Who is the workshop for?

Impact that Stands Up is for people who need to write, review or approve how a program’s intended impact is described, including:

program and service managers
grant, fundraising and business-development staff
monitoring, evaluation and learning staff
team leaders
policy and program-development practitioners

It is most useful if you have a real program, service or well-developed idea to work on and understand the need it addresses, the proposed activities and the intended beneficiaries.

If different people in your organisation hold this knowledge, consider attending with a colleague or preparing together beforehand.

You do not need a background in evaluation. We will guide you through the process step by step.

Because of its practical nature, this workshop is delivered as a live, interactive session with a small group.

Impact that Stands Up is designed around discussion, peer learning and individual feedback. To create a worthwhile experience for everyone, the workshop will proceed with 8–15 participants.

Who facilitates the workshop?

Impact that Stands Up is developed and facilitated by Professor Melinda Craike and Dr Bo Klepac Rolih, co-founders of Quality for Outcomes.

Together, we bring more than four decades of experience across prevention, health promotion, place-based and community programs, research and impact assessment.

We have designed and facilitated more than 100 workshops and training programs for not-for-profit organisations, government, researchers, community organisations, health services and businesses.

Our approach combines evidence with practical experience. We understand both the expectations placed on organisations to demonstrate impact and the realities of designing and delivering programs in complex settings.

We keep the group small so we can provide individual guidance and help participants apply the activities to their own work.
